Legends of Australian Fantasy Anthology

The forum for Isobelle Carmody's stand alone novels and books. If it isn't of The Legendsong or The Obernewtyn Chronicles, then it's probably here. Legends of Australian Fantasy Anthology

Postby anginas_twin on 24 Jun 2010, 13:38

Hi there!

Not sure if anyone has stumbled across this yet, but I happened to find a link to a new anthology in which Isobelle contributes. Here is the list of authors and stories:

1. To Hold the Bridge: An Old Kingdom Story, Garth Nix
2. The Mad Apprentice: A Black Magician Story, Trudi Canavan
3. ’Twixt Firelight and Water: A Tale of Sevenwaters, Juliet Marillier
4. The Dark Road: An Obernewtyn Story, Isobelle Carmody
5. Crown of Rowan: A Tale of Thrysland, Kim Wilkins
6. The Spark (A Romance in Four Acts): A Tale of the Change, Sean Williams
7. The Corsers’ Hinge: A Lamplighter Tale, D M Cornish
8. Tribute to Hell: A Tale of the Tainted Realm, Ian Irvine
9. A Captain of the Gate, John Birmingham
10. The Magic Word, Jennifer Fallon
11. The Enchanted: A Tale of Erith, Cecilia Dart-Thornton

I found this at:

The website says it will be out this month! (June 2010) How exciting! And the cover is absolutely beautiful. Anyway, it looks like a great book and there are several other authors in their that I love as well:)

Hi, thanks for the messsage, and it's great to see you! *hugs* We actually have a thread about this book in the Obernewtyn forum, but it's good to have it here as well, so more people see it. [mrgreen]

As I mentioned (briefly) in the other thread, the book is already out, but as far as I know most stores don't seem to be getting it in. Some of the (Melbourne) city stores have it in stock (or did, at any rate) including Dymocks, Readings and Collins or A&R, but most other stores would have to order it in for you. I ordered my copy at my local A&R and it was pretty quick. They've also got an online sale at the moment, mentioned here.

It's definitely worth reading, though! And I'm about to start reading the other stories, which I'm looking forward to (especially Juliet Marillier's and Garth Nix's).

Or you could just get your local library to order it in for you. *looks guilty* I know new anthologies are good but it is really expensive. [mrgreen] Unfortunately, Big W aren't stocking it otherwise I might of bought it from there. [:P]
